We have always supported Babyloss since we lost Alfie.  It seems to be one of those times where you don't even know that this brilliant charity exists until you go through the trauma of losing a child or someone close to you does.

They do such brilliant work that they deserve to be recognised and supported wherever possible.  They do not get enough credit for the work that they do.

They work hard all year trying to ensure that people out there who need support to get through the loss of their child get all the support they need.  This all culminates once a year in October when we have National Babyloss Awareness Week and Babyloss Day is October 15th every year.  In support of this event, many people buy and sell Pink and Blue Babyloss Ribbon Pins, hold events to raise money, join in with the global wave of light where candles are lit for all of our lost children at 7pm on the 15th October amongst many other things.  This is a great comfort to many grieving parents.

The aim is to raise money for charities, bereavement groups, research into the causes of baby loss and also to raise awareness into something that happens every day.  Sadly, this happens all the time, people lose their longed for children and a lot of the time, no one knows why or how to prevent it happening.  As well as awareness into the different ways that our babies are lost, awareness is sought for others, the people that we know, that we love, that we see every day.

It is a sad fact that unless it happens to you or someone close to you, the chances are that, when faced with someone who has lost their child, you will feel uneasy and not know how to handle the situation.  This is all too common.  For someone to lose a child is not, it is just that people on the outside of the situation are not taught how to deal with death and also feel as if they don't know what to say or do.  They do not want to upset the bereaved but don't want to appear flippant.  Awareness comes in all forms, people need to be educated about such things and we can all help each other.
